League Playoff Tournaments & Dates

  • Each season GSYSL will hold league playoffs based on the age groups and divisions registered with the league as follows:
  • There will be a Fall Playoff for the U11's the last weekend in October (beginning Fall 2013)
  • There will be a Fall Playoff for the U12 - 14 the first weekend in November - finalists from this tournament will participate in the NH Fall Classic Finals the 2nd Sunday in November
  • There will be a Senior Division Spring Playoff the 2nd weekend in June

U12 - U14 Fall Playoff Tournament Format

Each season GSYSL will determine the league playoff format based on the age groups and divisions registered with the league
  • The playoff format may vary from season to season based on the number of team and divisions
  • the general format will provide the following match-ups
    • Division 3 -1st place team will play a challenge match against the 4th (or 8th seed if 2 groups) from Division 2. If there are 2 Division 3 groups the 1st place team from each group will play a challenge match and the winner will play a challenge match against the 4th or 8th place seed from Division 2.
    • Division 2 - the top 4 teams from each group in Division 2 will play in a 1v4 and 2v3 match-up with the #4 seed or the # 8 seed (if 2 groups) having to win the challenge match with Division 3 #1 seed or challenge winner from div 3. If 2 groups in Division 2 the seeds will be crossed matched in the preliminary round.
    • Division 1 - the top 4 teams from each group in Division 1 will play in a 1v4 and 2v3. If 2 groups in Division 1 the seeds will be crossed matched in the preliminary round.
  • Division size will be considered but not necessarily required as follows to determine the # of seeds.
    • Division 1 groups of 5 or more will include the top 4 seeds.
    • Division 2 groups of 5 to 7 will include the top 2 seeds in each group. Groups of 8 or more will include the top 4 seeds in each group. If there is a group of 7 and a group of 8 the the top 4 from each group will be included
    • Division 3 only the top seed or 1st place team will be included from this division, unless there are 2 groups and a challenge match will be played to determine the one (1) seed.
  • All games in this tournament will be full games. If tied after regulation there will be 2 - 5 minute golden goal OT periods . If tied after the 2nd OT period the game will be decided by KFTM.

U11 Fall Playoff Tournament Format

Beginning the Fall of 2013 there will be a U11 tournament on the last weekend in October
  • The playoff format may vary from season to season based on the number of team and divisions
  • the general format will provide the following match-ups
    • Division 3 -1st place team will play a challenge match against the 4th (or 8th seed if 2 groups) from Division 2. If there are 2 Division 3 groups the 1st place team from each group will play a challenge match and the winner will play a challenge match against the 4th or 8th place seed from Division 2.
    • Division 2 - the top 4 teams from each group in Division 2 will play in a 1v4 and 2v3 match-up with the #4 seed or the # 8 seed (if 2 groups) having to win the challenge match with Div 3 #1 seed or challenge winner from division 3. If 2 groups in Division 2 the seeds will be crossed matched in the preliminary round.
    • Division 1 - the top 4 teams from each group in Division 1 will play in a 1v4 and 2v3. If 2 groups in Division 1 the seeds will be crossed matched in the preliminary round.
  • Division size will be considered but not necessarily required as follows to determine the # of seeds.
    • Division 1 groups of 5 or more will include the top 4 seeds.
    • Division 2 groups of 5 to 7 will include the top 2 seeds in each group. Groups of 8 or more will include the top 4 seeds in each group. If there is a group of 7 and a group of 8 the the top 4 from each group will be included
    • Division 3 only the top seed or 1st place team will be included from this division, unless there are 2 groups and a challenge match will be played to determine the one (1) seed.
  • All preliminary matches (Quarter-final and Semi-Final matches) will be 30 minute games. All preliminary matches tied after 30 minutes will be decided by KFTM (no overtime) All Final matches will be full 60 minute matches. If tied after regulation there will be 2 - 5 minute golden goal OT periods . If tied after the 2nd OT period the game will be decided by KFTM.

Senior Division Spring Tournament

  • The playoff format may vary from season to season based on the number of team and divisions
  • the general format will provide the following match-ups:
    • Divisions of 5 or 6 teams will match 2 v 3 with the winner playing the #1 team in that division in the Finals
    • Divisions of 7 or more will match 1 v 4 and 2 v 3 with the winners playing each other in the Finals.
  • All preliminary matches will be 40 minute halves - 80 minute games. All Finals will be 45 minute halves - 90 minute games.
    • all matches if tied after regulation there will be 2 - 10 minute golden goal OT periods . If tied after the 2nd OT period the game will be decided by KFTM.
